Romeo, whose name is synonymous with love. Quick to love, this young character of fourteen to sixteen years old is enthusiastic, and smart. At times Romeo is somewhat impulsive and immature. Most of the time Romeo is decisive according to his heart. This gets him into serious trouble in the story. He is faced with a persistent, violent feud between the Montague’s and the Capulets. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is madly in love with Rosaline. The passionate love Romeo has for Rosaline immediately shifts when he encounters Juliet for the first time at the Capulet's party in their mansion. From the moment he and Juliet first meet, Romeo's loyalty to women changes positively. The love that develops between he and Juliet grows until Juliet tries a trick to fool the townspeople but unfortunately brings forth the death of Romeo.

In my opinion, the writer of the above essay believes that Romeo develops from being a lovesick wimp into someone who is decisive and self-reliant. For example the writer notes that Romeo changes from being passionately in love with Rosaline then as soon as he meet Juliet he’s instantly in love with her, also that at the start he’s impulsive and immature but becomes someone who's loving and loyal to women.
